How we calculate
Our pipeline follows a standard logical sequence: Gross salary → income tax and statutory social insurance contributions → net monthly pay → typical mid-range city expenses → real discretionary savings.
All interactive calculations are performed entirely in your browser using pure, open-source mathematical functions. No personal financial information, wage details, or household budgets are ever saved or transmitted to any server.

Cost of living estimates
City expense budgets are editorial estimates (last reviewed 2026-09-15) tailored to a mid-range professional standard of living: a private one-bedroom apartment in a desirable urban district for single professionals, and a three-bedroom suburban home plus international schooling for expat families of four.
Exchange rates
Static foreign exchange baseline rates as of 2026-10-01: 1 EUR = 1.08 USD, 0.85 GBP, 3.97 AED, 4.05 SAR. Static rates ensure calculation repeatability and prevent unexpected shifts in historical comparisons.
